Tell us about your greatest challenge and how you overcame it:
There was a time in my post-graduate career where I experienced great adversity. I almost let negative people around me make me believe that I was not going to be successful or that my aspirations were unreachable. However, I put that all aside and I focused on my goals. I made my strengths stronger and continued to work on my weaknesses. Now, I am not only where I want to be but I am in a place with even more opportunities than I ever imagined. Today, positive and supportive people surround me and I am grateful for that.
What advice do you have for other women entrepreneurs or aspiring entrepreneurs?
If you want to achieve something, go for it. There is no harm in trying, and even if we don't succeed on the first attempt, that doesn't mean we are done. Take a failed attempt and learn from it, and then power forward. You are only as strong as strong as your best effort.
Key take-aways from your experience with the WISE Center or Symposium:
The 2010 Symposium was my first-ever Symposium, and I was left speechless after the event concluded. Those who know me well, know that I am never left speechless. I love my words! However, this event was so powerful and it inspired me to continue feeling that positive energy every day, not just on the day of the Symposium. Because of that, I encourage people to visit the WISE Center and learn how that positive and energetic feeling of motivation can stay alive year-round. The WISE Center is full of endless resources and I want everyone to realize the asset that sits on Syracuse's South Side.
Any other information you want to share:
I must share that I see a bright future for Central New York. I have been so blessed since moving here. After I graduated with a master's degree in magazine journalism from SU's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in May 2009, I have had many amazing experiences. To say that I helped launch (in January 2011) and manage "Syracuse Woman Magazine," and that I am also host of WCNY's new public affairs TV show, "Insight," is anything short of truly knowing that hard work, family and colleague support and motivation have come to fruition. With that said, if you can imagine it, then it means it is possible.
